Soprano
Hee Jin Chang
Lyric soprano Hee Jin Chang received her Graduate Performance Diploma (GPD) from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in 2023. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA), Master of Music (MM), and Bachelor of Music (BM) degrees in Vocal Performance from Seoul National University.
Ms. Chang has performed a wide range of leading operatic roles, including Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Giulia (La scala di seta), Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Gilda (Rigoletto), and Violetta (La traviata).
She has appeared in productions with the Peabody Institute, The Catholic University of America, Seoul Metropolitan Opera, Inciem Opera, and the Miami Music Festival.
In addition to her operatic roles, Ms. Chang has performed opera scenes as Mimì (La bohème), the Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier), and Agathe (Der Freischütz). She was also selected as the cover for Musetta (La bohème) with Young Artists of America (YAA) and for Sieglinde (Die Walküre) with New York Dramatic Voices.
Beyond her operatic performances, Ms. Chang is also an active concert artist with a strong affinity for orchestral, sacred, chamber music, and recital repertoire. Her musical interests encompass a broad range of styles, from the Classical, Romantic, and Post-Romantic traditions of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Hugo Wolf, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Antonín Dvořák, Franz Liszt, Giuseppe Verdi, and Richard Strauss to contemporary composers such as Benjamin Britten, Leonard Bernstein, William Bolcom, and Jake Heggie.
